Flag Day Turkey Sandwiches with Mozzarella Cheese are a delightful blend of tender turkey, creamy mozzarella, and fresh veggies, all packed between crispy, toasted bread. Ingredients

  • 8 oz cooked turkey breast, sliced
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 4 slices whole grain bread
  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, sliced
  • 2 tbsp basil pesto
  • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by cleaning surfaces and gathering all ingredients.
  2. Spread basil pesto on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Layer turkey, mozzarella, spinach, and tomato on top of the pesto side of two slices of bread.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste before topping with the other slices of bread (pesto side down).
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Grill sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  6. Slice diagonally and serve warm.
