Description

Rice pilaf is a delightful and aromatic dish that elevates any meal with its fluffy grains and rich flavor. This easy-to-make recipe combines long-grain rice, sautéed onions, garlic, and warm spices, all simmered in flavorful vegetable broth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup long-grain rice (Basmati or jasmine)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until clear; set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté the onion until translucent. Add garlic and cumin seeds; cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the rinsed rice and toast for 3-5 minutes until golden.
  4. Pour in vegetable broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed.
  5. Remove from heat, let sit covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork and garnish with parsley.
