  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 (14 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened and fragrant.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  4. Toss in broken lasagna noodles; reduce heat and simmer for about 10-12 minutes until noodles are tender.
  5. Mix in half of the shredded mozzarella until melted.
  6. Serve hot in bowls, topped with remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
