Instructions
- Prep your ingredients by chopping the onion and mincing the garlic.
- In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter or warm olive oil. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the long-grain rice to the pot, stirring to coat it with the onion mixture. Toast for 2-3 minutes until slightly golden.
- Pour in the vegetable broth along with thyme (and any other herbs/spices). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover tightly and simmer for 15-20 minutes until liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
