- Beat the butter and sugar together until fluffy, then mix in the eggs one at a time.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder; fold into wet ingredients until combined.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
- For custard: warm milk with half of the sugar in a saucepan. Mix cornstarch with remaining sugar and egg yolks; whisk in warm milk mixture and return to heat until thickened.
- For ganache: pour heated heavy cream over chocolate chips; stir until smooth.
- Once cakes cool, layer custard between them and top with ganache.
