Instructions

  2. Wash broccoli under cold water and cut into bite-sized florets.
  3. Blanch broccoli in boiling salted water for 3 minutes, then drain and transfer to ice water.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  5. Whisk in flour for about 1 minute until golden brown; gradually stir in heavy cream until thickened.
  6. Add sharp cheddar cheese, stirring until melted; season with salt and pepper.
  7. Fold in blanched broccoli until evenly coated.
