Description

  • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef and pork (or turkey)
  • 1 cup cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • Salt, pepper, and paprika to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare your cabbage leaves by blanching them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Stir in ground meat and cooked rice; mix well.
  3. Lay out one cabbage leaf, place about 1/4 cup of filling at the base, fold the sides over, and roll tightly from bottom to top. Repeat with remaining filling.
  4. Combine tomato sauce with chicken broth and seasonings in a bowl.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread sauce on the bottom of a baking dish, layer rolls seam-side down, then pour remaining sauce over them. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  6. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving; garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
