Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled (or substitute with veggies)
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Let store-bought pizza dough sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into circles about 8 inches wide.
  4. Spoon ricotta cheese onto one half of each circle, then layer mozzarella, cooked sausage, spinach, and a dollop of pizza sauce. Leave space at the edge.
  5. Fold the other half over, pinching edges tightly to seal.
  6. Brush each calzone with olive oil for a golden finish.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed up and golden brown.
