Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (5 oz) cans chunk light tuna, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup finely diced celery (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine drained tuna, mayonnaise, onions, and celery (if using). Stir until well mixed.
  2. Spread the tuna mixture generously onto two slices of sourdough bread. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and place another slice of bread on top.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Grill the sandwich until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side, pressing down slightly with a spatula.
  4. Ensure the cheese is melted; you can cover the skillet with a lid to help melt it faster.
  5. Once both sides are golden and crispy, remove from heat, let cool slightly, then slice in half and serve.
