Whether you enjoy it hot off the skillet or as tasty leftovers, it’s a versatile meal that never fails to impress. Customize it with your favorite toppings for an extra burst of flavor!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (5 oz) high-quality tuna in water, drained
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 slices sourdough or whole grain bread
  • ¼ cup celery, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp onion, finely diced
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, and onion until combined but chunky.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice. Place the tuna mixture on the unbuttered side of one slice and sprinkle cheese on top.
  3. Close the sandwich with the other slice, buttered side facing out.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook sandwiches until golden brown on one side (about 3-4 minutes).
  5. Flip carefully and continue cooking until cheese is melted and both sides are crispy (another 3-4 minutes).
  6. Serve immediately while hot.
